Overview

Storion Energy is a joint venture between Stryten Energy and Largo inc. and is at the forefront of commercializing Vanadium Redox Flow Batteries (VRFBs) within the United States. Largo is a vanadium mining company with the only western-friendly vanadium mine in the world, located in Brazil. Stryten is a leading lead-acid battery manufacturer supplying energy storage solutions to the automotive, industrial, and stationary power markets.
Storion Energy was formed from the VRFB divisions of each company and is focused on supplying specialty VRFB components to the long duration energy storage (LDES) market. We are uniquely positioned to drive down costs to allow new entrants into the flow battery market, which will drive competition with lithium based LDES products.


VRFB LDES products help address renewable energy intermittency issues, provide grid resiliency, and enable a cleaner electricity grid.

Responsibilities

Primary Role
  • Understand the drawings and Bill of Material of Battery Stack
  • Create 3D models of parts and subassemblies in SolidWorks
  • Generate manufacturing drawing in SolidWorks to replicate existing drawings (generated through Creo)
  • Modify drawings per best engineering drawing practices and as directed by Storion engineer (s)
  • Make modifications to drawings as per redlines given by Storion engineer (s)
  • CAD data and drawing management within SolidWorks PDM as per Storion guidelines
  • Document learning and best practices
  • Support engineering documentation as needed
 
Secondary role as need arises
  • Support assembly of battery stack as needed with simple assembly tasks, such as taking inventory, measuring stack parts (ex: calipers, drop gauges), leak checking the cells and stacks, and operating automated work cells.
  • Many more exciting and challenging experiences

Qualifications

  • Working towards High School Graduation, rising senior. 
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Must be able to work in Microsoft environment 
  • You must have housing and transportation to our Wilmington, MA location. Public transportation is not available to our office.
  • Follow safety practices while in the Storion premises
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pound boxes of parts
We expect our interns to be hands on self-starters who can follow the guidelines and instructions. The successful candidate should be willing to learn and have communication, analytical and teamwork skills that can be applied to cross-functional teams. The individual should be able to identify any discrepancies observed in drawings or while creating 3D CAD model and discuss with respective engineer (s).
